Tokyo has 28 muhurat days for entering a new home in 2027, the first on 20 January and the last on 13 December. Each one is worked out for Tokyo's own sunrise, sunset and clock, so the list is not the same as Delhi's or as a calendar printed in India.

The dates, month by month

Each row shows the day, the nakshatra at midday and the tithi. These are days, not hours: the hour depends on the rising sign and on the two birth charts.

Why some months are empty

• Chaturmas runs 14 July to 8 November: from Devshayani Ekadashi until Dev Uthani Ekadashi begins.
• Kharmas (the Sun in Dhanu or Meena) covers 1 January to 14 January, 15 March to 14 April and 17 December to 31 December within 2027.
• Venus is combust (too close to the Sun) 7 July to 17 September.
• Jupiter is combust (too close to the Sun) 17 August to 14 September.
• Eclipse days are set aside: 7 February, 21 February, 19 July, 2 August, 17 August.

If your family does not keep Kharmas or Chaturmas

These two are conventions of practice, followed across North and West India and by most North Indian families abroad. Some southern and regional traditions do not apply them. Without them, 25 more days in 2027 clear every other screen for Tokyo. Ask your own pandit which custom your family follows.

How each date is chosen

A day is listed only if it clears all of these for Tokyo:

• a nakshatra the muhurta texts favour for griha pravesh;
• no tithi or weekday set aside for it, and no Amavasya;
• neither Jupiter nor Venus combust; no eclipse, no Sankranti, no Adhika Masa;
• not in Kharmas or Chaturmas.

Combustion (asta): Jupiter within 11° of the Sun, Venus within 10° (standard orbs; some texts refine by retrogression — the orb applied is printed on the report). While either guru is combust, marriage, griha pravesh, upanayana and first rites are classically barred.

Kharmas: the month the Sun spends in Dhanu or in Meena, Jupiter's two signs. North Indian panchangs set marriage and griha pravesh aside for both months. This is a convention of practice, widely followed, not a rule from a single verse; some southern traditions do not apply it. Computed from the Sun's sidereal position on the day.

Chaturmas: the four months from Devshayani Ekadashi (Ashadha Shukla 11) to Dev Uthani Ekadashi (Kartika Shukla 11), kept as Vishnu's rest. Marriage and griha pravesh are not performed in it by long-standing practice across North and West India; regional customs differ. Computed from the actual lunations and tithis of the year.
